Whiz Kids gymnasts conjure up medals in Brampton

AJAX -- Durham Whiz Kids Gymnastics Academy gymnasts posted numerous medal-winning performances at the recent 2008 Springfest Meet in Brampton.

Thivian Chelliah, of Ajax, earned overall gold for the Ajax-based club in the Level 1, ages 8 and 9, category. Chelliah captured individual gold on high-bar, silver on parallel bars and rings and bronze on pommel horse. Nathaneal Masson, also of Ajax, finished with the overall silver medal in the same category. Masson won silver on pommel horse and bronze on rings and vault. Evan Bates, of Ajax, captured individual gold on floor exercises, silver on vault and high-bar and bronze on parallel bars.

Troy Davidson, of Oshawa, placed fourth overall in the Level 1, nine-year-old division. Davidson earned individual gold on vault, and silver on floor. Nicholas Novak, of Ajax, won gold on high-bar and bronze on vault. Joshua Del Genio, of Ajax, earned bronze on parallel bars.

Neil Maatta and Daniel Newth, both of Ajax, had strong performances in the Level 2, ages 10 to 12, category. Maatta recorded an individual gold medal on high-bar and bronze on vault. Newth earned silver on parallel bars.
