Friends provide dog for local woman

To the editor: Listening to the news in the morning on the way into work or scanning the front page of the paper doesn't leave you with a good feeling too frequently anymore. There aren't a lot of feel good stories on a daily basis. So that's the reason I wanted to share this story with you. I have worked downtown at the Ministry of Revenue for 25 years. Over the years you get to know people who live in the area and usually see them on a regular basis when you go out for coffee break or lunch. A lot of the Revenue staff have gotten to know a lady who lives close by and she would regularly pass by the building with a little white poodle, "Muffy." Well little Muffy passed away last year and needless to say her owner was devastated. It seems like a lot of people felt the owner's sadness and wanted to help ease her loneliness. I want to commend the staff of Oshawa Public Utilities and Modella Hair Stylists who took this lady down to the Shelter of Hope in Port Hope and paid for the adoption of a Ganaraskan dog for this woman on March 17 of this year. I just found out about it last Friday on the way into work. I stopped and saw the woman with her new dog walking down the street. She was ecstatic telling me about the kindness of these people. The workers had paid for the dog, had her fixed, dog tags for life, tags with her name and phone number on it, and the list went on. This just goes to show you there are still a lot of good people around and to show such fellowship is wonderful!Teresa FinchOshawa
