Leadership needed now
Wed May 14, 2008

To the editor:

If ever there was a time for leadership it's now.

With the latest job losses at GM, Oshawa faces a real recession with another thousand families staring poverty full in the face this September.

What exactly have our local Conservative MPs been doing to avert this crisis? What great solutions do they have or are they just full of hot air, only interested in photo-ops to help keep their own very well-paid jobs and over-inflated pensions?

We need real leaders who put partisan politics aside when our community is in crisis. When the next election comes, please remember just how little Oshawa MP Colin Carrie and Whitby-Oshawa MP Jim Flaherty have ever done for Oshawa and how their "laissez faire - we don't care" attitude towards the manufacturing industries has cost the livelihoods of thousands of our families!

If this government and our local MP had any abilities or motivation, a lot more could and should have been done before another possibly fatal blow was dealt to GM.
