SCUGOG -- Young artists in Scugog are being invited to take part in Making Waves Jr. A student version of Making Waves, a juried art exhibit being held by Meta4 Contemporary Craft Gallery in partnership with the Scugog Lake Stewards, the exhibit is open to all elementary and secondary school students in Scugog. The theme is "What does a healthy Lake Scugog mean to you?".
Making Waves Jr. will be displayed at a public open house at the Lake Scugog Conference May 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Scugog Community Centre. At the conference, representatives from all levels of government, community environmental groups, businesses and the farming community will talk about what can be done to keep the lake healthy.
Making Waves Jr. is a juried exhibit, sponsored by Meta4 and Scugog Lake Stewards. The best 40 entries will be displayed at the conference open house.
All elementary and secondary school age students in Scugog are invited to submit one two-dimensional work of art in any medium for the exhibit. All works must be a maximum of 16 inches by 20 inches. Each work must be labeled on the back with name, school, grade and phone number. Prizes will be awarded and prizewinning work will become part of the Making Waves window display at Meta4 on Queen Street in Port Perry. Artwork may be dropped off at the Scugog Visitor Centre from May 1 to 4. Contact the visitor centre at 905 985-4971 for hours of operation.
Making Waves Jr. gets its name from a larger juried art exhibition, Making Waves, being presented May 15 to June 22 at Meta4.
