Scugog chamber hosts AGM on April 25

SCUGOG -- A visit by Durham MP Bev Oda and the presentation of the 2007 'Business of the Year' awards are expected to be among the highlights of the Scugog Chamber of Commerce's upcoming annual general meeting later this month.

On April 25, the local merchant group will host its annual general meeting and business awards gala at the Latcham Centre, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The evening session will include the AGM business, a three-course dinner, a strategic plan overview and presentation of the chamber's 2007 'Business of the Year' awards, followed by a dance.

As well, Ms. Oda, the Minister of International Co-operation, will also be on hand as the evening's guest speaker.

Nominations for the business awards will be accepted until 4 p.m. on April 14. Those considered for the award must be a member in good standing with the chamber and exemplify the spirit and success of Scugog's business community. Nominations may be submitted in two categories: businesses with 15 or fewer employees and businesses with more than 15 workers.

Tickets to the April 25 AGM are $45 for chamber members and $50 for the public. Tickets must be reserved in advance; no tickets will be sold at the door. There will be a cash bar.

The Latcham Centre is located at 121 Queen St.
