CLARINGTON -- Two Bowmanville boys, age 12 and 13, have been found after a night lost in the woods at the Ganaraska Forest. The boys went to search for the family dog when it ran off about 5:30 p.m. Monday.
The dog came out of the woods but the boys did not return. The family began searching immediately, police were called about 7 p.m., and the search continued through the night along Boundary Road, east of Hwy. 115.
The boys were able to make their way to a farmhouse on Carscadden Road, east of Kirby, about 7:30 a.m. and police say they have been reunited with family. The farmhouse is on the south side of the forest about six kilometres away from where the boys were last seen.
A family friend told newsdurhamregion.com that the boys walked all night to keep warm because of the cold temperatures.
newsdurhamregion.com is on the scene and updates will be filed throughout the morning.
