ITHICA, N.Y. -- For Zack Greer and the Duke University Blue Devils, it didn't matter much who Saturday's opponent was going to be. What mattered was that there would be an opponent as the lacrosse program seeks out that elusive national championship. A huge quarterfinal game from Greer assured Duke's run would continue as the Whitby native scored six times and added five assists to lift his team over Ohio State by a 21-10 count, thus earning an berth into the NCAA semifinals. And their opponent, as it turns out, will be a familiar one in the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays, who disposed of the Blue Devils in last year's championship final. But Greer said in a press release after Duke's quarterfinal victory, the fact they have a shot at redemption against Johns Hopkins mean's very little. "I don't think we're going to look at it like that. It's just the next game, it's the next team we've got to play," he said. "We've got to prepare for them this week, but it's about doing our own thing. We got to come out and play our game, we got to play right (and) do the things we do best. It doesn't matter who the opponent is." A win on Saturday would cap an already impressive week for the former Whitby Warriors star as on Tuesday, Greer was named Duke's male senior athlete of the year.
