AJAX -- The Ajax Titans girls' U18 rep soccer team players completed their youth soccer days as true champions recently. Facing stiff competition, especially from fellow Durham teams Pickering and Darlington, the Titans enjoyed an undefeated season in the CGSL (Central Girls' Soccer League) Premier Level 3 division, capturing both the league and Cup championship. To win the Cup, Ajax defeated Pickering 1-0 in a rain-soaked final. Ajax downed Darlington 2-1 in double overtime and Oshawa 3-0 to advance to the finals. To capture the league crown, Ajax needed only a 2-2 draw against Darlington last Friday night. It was an emotional affair as the girls played their last time together as the Titans. "The girls finished their youth soccer days in style," said head coach Alex Bianchi. "It has been a pleasure to watch these players develop from girls into young women." The team now scatters across the continent. Allyson Trinier, Jessica Leroux, Julia Rivers, Jennifer Kirby, Jodie McDonald, Justine Forth, Alexa McCartney, Brittany Hughes and Sarah Taylor are continuing their soccer careers and education at U.S. schools. Kendra Bianchi, Devin Semple, Jassica Kollar, Jennifer Joucas, Anna Moncada, Bethany Stiles, Ariana Santos and Tara Culbert have chosen to continue their schooling and soccer playing in Canada. The dedicated coaching staff over the past six years includes head coach Alex Bianchi, assistant coach Gary Kirby, trainer Val Rivers and manager Dave Slattery.
