U11 soccer team captures Empire Cup title

AJAX -- The Ajax Venom boys' under-11 soccer team sunk its fangs into U.S. competition in a tournament in the New York capital recently.

The Venom squad made the six-hour drive to Albany, New York to compete at the New York State Empire Cup Soccer Tournament. Playing in heat and humidity, the Ajacians made the final where they scored a 4-0 victory over the Long Island Olympic Academy.

To get to the final, the Venom won four games over U.S. opponents in the Hudson Division.

The Venom currently reside in first place in the Central East Soccer League's Division 1 U11 standings.

Team members are Joshua Collins, Aidan Daniels, George Douros, Nyal Higgins, Jacob Harrison, Andrew Hughes, Trey Humes, Charlton Kelly, Kristopher Luke, Lee Nicholson, Kevin Ounjian, Jason Ruber, Bradley Slighte, Mark Valentim, Tristen Wilson and York Yap.

Blayne Daniels, Blair Slighte and Dave Valentim coach the team. Jen Harrison is the manager.
