OSHAWA -- The Oshawa Community Health Centre (OCHC) is finally moving into its new home at the end of the month.

The OCHC will open its doors July 29 at the Dr. Bryce A. Brown Wellness Centre, located in the new Conant Complex on Grassmere Avenue.

The new building will triple the existing health centre's space, with more than 38,000 square feet for program rooms, medical examination rooms, child and youth activity rooms, a shared gymnasium and parking. Outdoor play areas and gardens will also span more than four acres.

"The Health Centre, which has celebrated 25 years in the community, is dedicated to building a stronger and healthier Oshawa," OCHC executive director Lee Kierstead said. "The new facility will help us continue to fulfill our mission and I can't think of a better way to mark our first 25 years than constructing a much-needed new home which will allow us help many more residents of Oshawa."

The move has been a long time coming and is made possible by support from the City of Oshawa, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and the Hands up for Hope community fundraising effort.
