To the editor:

Now this one isn't rocket science. I, too, am having a frustrating time with the busing policy at Durham Region Distrct School Board.

My daughter will be attending R.H. Cornish for French immersion (which is not our home school) but, because it is the immersion program, she will be bused. I have seen the bus -- empty every year and it will be stopping for my eldest daughter. However, because of "policy", my youngest entering JK cannot get transported to the same school.

In order for her to be transported she has to attend her home school S.A. Cawker (where immersion doesn't begin until Grade 1) and I will have to juggle two schools, two start/end times and two buses or drive her myself to RH Cornish. Why?

As per Brenda Cannon, administrator for the superintendent of transportation Mark Joel, someday, someone may perceive that they have been treated unfairly if they cannot be accommodated.

Is the board "working" towards solutions or hiding behind policy? I know you can't please everyone but isn't your role to at least try? The trustees will be receiving a letter from me.
