DURHAM -- After only two years on the job, Leah Myers has resigned as Durham College president.

In a press release issued late Friday afternoon, the college’s board of governors announced Ms. Myers resignation, as well as the appointment of Don Lovisa as interim president effective immediately.

“The Board would like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing president Leah Myers for her work over the past two years,” said Phillip ‘Rocky’ Simmons, the board’s chairman. “During her tenure at the college, Leah spearheaded a new five-year strategic plan and revised and refreshed the college’s operational and administrative policies. We wish Leah success in her future endeavours.”

Mr. Lovisa, vice-president, academic, joined Durham College in August 2007. He was previously dean of the School of Business, Hospitality and Media Arts at Confederation College in Thunder Bay, and holds a master’s degree in international management, a bachelor’s degree in sociology, and a diploma in adult education. He began his career 21 years ago as a small business advisor for Confederation College.
