The ruling came down in the Ontario Court of Justice in Oshawa Friday.
Madam Justice Katrina Mulligan heard that the employee was working at the Raynes Avenue plant on Nov. 8, 2006. He was working on a machine making conveyor belts when his arm was drawn into a machine and broken.
The investigation into the accident concluded Goodyear had failed to meet a requirement of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
In addition to the $55,000 fine, Goodyear was also required to pay a 25 per cent victim fine surcharge.
